Dear Cedars Families and Students,
We hope this message finds you safe and well. The information in this letter is to help you and your family plan for the transition to at-home learning at Cedars International Academy. We want to thank you for your continued support during this uncertain time. The health and safety of our students, teachers, and staff is our top priority. Our other priority is to support our students and staff socially and emotionally.
For the first four weeks of school students will be 100 percent at-home learning. Currently, we are planning for a few students to be on campus for remote learning after September 15th. This date may change depending on the current COVID-19 conditions and the closure orders from national, state, and local agencies.
Here’s what to expect from Cedars while we are in at-home learning:
- Classes will be a combination of synchronous and asynchronous learning.
- Synchronous learning means students will be expected to log on at a specified time and be ready to learn with their teachers and peers.
- Asynchronous learning means students will engage intermittently with their teachers. Some students may need additional support to access asynchronous learning activities. Students may work at their own pace in this learning model.
- We will have a daily schedule which will include opportunities for social-emotional learning, guidance counseling, enrichment activities, and community and relationship building.
- Students will be expected to be engaged in daily activities each day to be marked present which is in accordance with Texas Education Agency’s attendance requirements.
- There will be grades in every class.
We will have more detailed information and the schedule that will be used soon.

Esperamos que este mensaje los encuentre sanos y salvos. La información en esta carta es para ayudarlo a usted y a su familia a planificar la transición al aprendizaje remoto en la Academia Internacional Cedars. Queremos agradecerle por su continuo apoyo durante este tiempo incierto. La salud y seguridad de nuestros estudiantes, maestros y personal es nuestra principal prioridad. Nuestra otra prioridad es apoyar a nuestros estudiantes y al personal social y emocionalmente.

- El aprendizaje asincrónico significa que los estudiantes se involucran intermitentemente con sus maestros. Algunos estudiantes pueden necesitar apoyo adicional para acceder a actividades de aprendizaje asíncrono. Los estudiantes pueden trabajar a su propio ritmo en este modelo de aprendizaje.
- Tendremos un horario diario que incluirá oportunidades para el aprendizaje socioemocional, orientación psicológica, actividades de enriquecimiento y construcción de relaciones y comunidad.
- Se espera que los estudiantes participen en actividades diarias cada día para que sean marcados como presentes, de acuerdo con los requisitos de asistencia de la Agencia de Educación de Texas.
- Habrá calificaciones en cada clase.
